Bhaddiyasutta With Bhaddiya
Kapilavatthunidānaṁ. At Kapilavatthu.
Ekamantaṁ nisinnaṁ kho bhaddiyaṁ sakkaṁ bhagavā etadavoca: Seated to one side, the Buddha said to Bhaddiya the Sakyan: Bhaddiya, the son of (Kāḷī) Godhā, was a ruler of the Sakyans who later became a monk (Ud 2.10, Thag 16.7:2.4). He was said to be the foremost of those who went forth from an eminent family (AN 1.193).
“catūhi kho, bhaddiya, dhammehi samannāgato ariyasāvako sotāpanno hoti avinipātadhammo niyato sambodhiparāyaṇo. “Bhaddiya, a noble disciple who has four things is a stream-enterer …”
