Dutiyarukkhasutta A Tree (2nd)
āSeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, ye keci devÄnaį¹ tÄvatiį¹sÄnaį¹ rukkhÄ, pÄrichattako tesaį¹ aggamakkhÄyati; āMendicants, of all the trees belonging to the gods of the thirty-three, the Orchid Tree is said to be the best. The godsā delight in the Orchid Tree (pÄrichattaka, also known as koviįø·Ära) is shown at AN 7.69.
evameva kho, bhikkhave, ye keci bodhipakkhiyÄ dhammÄ, paƱƱindriyaį¹ tesaį¹ aggamakkhÄyati, yadidaį¹ābodhÄya. In the same way, the faculty of wisdom is said to be the best of the qualities on the side of awakening; that is, for becoming awakened.
Katame ca, bhikkhave, bodhipakkhiyÄ dhammÄ? And what are the qualities on the side of awakening?
Saddhindriyaį¹, bhikkhave, bodhipakkhiyo dhammo, taį¹ bodhÄya saį¹vattati. The faculties of faith,
VÄ«riyindriyaį¹ ā¦peā¦ energy,
satindriyaį¹ ā¦ mindfulness,
samÄdhindriyaį¹ ā¦ immersion,
paƱƱindriyaį¹ bodhipakkhiyo dhammo, taį¹ bodhÄya saį¹vattati. and wisdom are qualities on the side of awakening, in that they lead to awakening.
SeyyathÄpi, bhikkhave, ye keci devÄnaį¹ tÄvatiį¹sÄnaį¹ rukkhÄ, pÄrichattako tesaį¹ aggamakkhÄyati; Of all the trees belonging to the gods of the thirty-three, the Orchid Tree is said to be the best.
