Paį¹hamakukkuį¹ÄrÄmasutta At the Chicken Monastery (1st)
Evaį¹ me sutaį¹āSo I have heard.
ekaį¹ samayaį¹ ÄyasmÄ ca Änando ÄyasmÄ ca bhaddo pÄį¹aliputte viharanti kukkuį¹ÄrÄme. At one time the venerables Änanda and Bhadda were staying near PÄį¹aliputta, in the Chicken Monastery. This pair feature up until SN 45.20. | With the rise of PÄį¹aliputta, the āChicken Monasteryā (kukkuį¹ÄrÄma) became an important center after the Buddhaās passing. Malalasekera (Dictionary of Pali Proper Names) suggests it was the same monastery later renowned as AÅokÄrÄma. It seems that all the discourses set here are after the Parinibbana.
Atha kho ÄyasmÄ bhaddo sÄyanhasamayaį¹ paį¹isallÄnÄ vuį¹į¹hito yenÄyasmÄ Änando tenupasaį¹

kamitvÄ ÄyasmatÄ Änandena saddhiį¹ sammodi. Then in the late afternoon, Venerable Bhadda came out of retreat, went to Venerable Änanda, and exchanged greetings with him.
SammodanÄ«yaį¹ kathaį¹ sÄraį¹Ä«yaį¹ vÄ«tisÄretvÄ ekamantaį¹ nisÄ«di. Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho ÄyasmÄ bhaddo Äyasmantaį¹ Änandaį¹ etadavoca: When the greetings and polite conversation were over, he sat down to one side and said to Änanda:
āāAbrahmacariyaį¹, abrahmacariyanāti, Ävuso Änanda, vuccati. āReverend, they speak of this thing called ānot the spiritual pathā. Notice that they refer to each other as āreverendā, in apparent violation of one of the Buddhaās final instructions (DN 16:6.2.1).

āSÄdhu sÄdhu, Ävuso bhadda. āGood, good, Reverend Bhadda!

micchÄdiį¹į¹hi ā¦peā¦ micchÄsamÄdhÄ«āti. wrong view, wrong purpose, wrong speech, wrong action, wrong livelihood, wrong effort, wrong mindfulness, and wrong immersion.ā
