Ñāṇasutta Knowledge

ā€œā€˜Imā vedanā’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu cakkhuṁ udapādi, ñāṇaṁ udapādi, paƱƱā udapādi, vijjā udapādi, āloko udapādi. ā€œā€˜These are the feelings.’ Such was the vision, knowledge, wisdom, realization, and light that arose in me regarding teachings not learned before from another. This is describing the night of the Buddha’s awakening, using the same phrasing found in the first discourse (SN 56.11). | PTS edition does not number this as a separate discourse, hence its numbering is one off from here to the end of the Saṁyutta.

ā€˜Ayaṁ vedanāsamudayo’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu cakkhuṁ udapādi …pe… āloko udapādi. ā€˜This is the origin of feeling.’ …

ā€˜Ayaṁ vedanāsamudayagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadā’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu cakkhuṁ udapādi …pe… ā€˜This is the practice that leads to the origin of feeling.’ …

ā€˜ayaṁ vedanānirodhagāminÄ« paį¹­ipadā’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu cakkhuṁ udapādi …pe… ā€˜This is the practice that leads to the cessation of feeling.’ …

ā€˜ayaṁ vedanāya assādo’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu …pe… ā€˜This is the gratification of feeling.’ …

ā€˜idaṁ kho nissaraṇan’ti me, bhikkhave, pubbe ananussutesu dhammesu cakkhuṁ udapādi, ñāṇaṁ udapādi, paƱƱā udapādi, vijjā udapādi, āloko udapādÄ«ā€ti. ā€˜This is the escape from feeling.’ Such was the vision, knowledge, wisdom, realization, and light that arose in me regarding teachings not learned before from another.ā€
