Paį¹hamahatthapÄdopamasutta The Simile of Hands and Feet (1st)
āHatthesu, bhikkhave, sati ÄdÄnanikkhepanaį¹ paƱƱÄyati; āMendicants, when there are hands, picking up and putting down are found. According to the doctrine of kamma, we acquire our bodies with their faculties from our desire. It does not just happen to be the case that we have hands to pick things up; we have manifested rebirth with hands because we want to pick things up.
pÄdesu sati abhikkamapaį¹ikkamo paƱƱÄyati; When there are feet, coming and going are found.
pabbesu sati samiƱjanapasÄraį¹aį¹ paƱƱÄyati; When there are joints, contracting and extending are found.
kucchismiį¹ sati jighacchÄ pipÄsÄ paƱƱÄyati. When thereās a belly, hunger and thirst are found.
Evameva kho, bhikkhave, cakkhusmiį¹ sati cakkhusamphassapaccayÄ uppajjati ajjhattaį¹ sukhaį¹ dukkhaį¹ ā¦pe⦠In the same way, when thereās an eye, pleasure and pain arise internally conditioned by eye contact.
