Paį¹hamasabbupÄdÄnapariyÄdÄnasutta The Depletion of All Fuel for Grasping (1st)
āSabbupÄdÄnapariyÄdÄnÄya vo, bhikkhave, dhammaį¹ desessÄmi. āMendicants, I will teach you the principle for depleting all fuel for grasping. UpÄdÄna has the primary meaning of āgraspingā, and secondarily āfuelā (SN 12.52). Here the usage with pariyÄdÄna (ādepletionā) shows the metaphor of āfuelā is active; you canāt ādeplete graspingā.
