āko nu kho, bhante, hetu, ko paccayo, yena midhekacco kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä uį¹havalÄhakÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ ā¦peā¦ āSir, what is the cause, what is the reason why someone, when their body breaks up, after death, is reborn in the company of the gods of warm thunderclouds ā¦
abbhavalÄhakÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ ā¦peā¦ stormy thunderclouds ā¦
vÄtavalÄhakÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ ā¦peā¦ windy thunderclouds ā¦

āIdha, bhikkhu, ekacco kÄyena sucaritaį¹ carati, vÄcÄya sucaritaį¹ carati, manasÄ sucaritaį¹ carati. āMendicant, itās when someone does good things by way of body, speech, and mind.
Tassa sutaį¹ hoti: And theyāve heard:
āvassavalÄhakÄ devÄ dÄ«ghÄyukÄ vaį¹į¹avanto sukhabahulÄāti. āThe gods of rainy thunderclouds are long-lived, beautiful, and very happy.ā
Tassa evaį¹ hoti: They think:
āaho vatÄhaį¹ kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä vassavalÄhakÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ sahabyataį¹ upapajjeyyanāti. āIf only, when my body breaks up, after death, I would be reborn in the company of the gods of rainy thunderclouds!ā

Ayaį¹ kho, bhikkhu, hetu, ayaį¹ paccayo, yena midhekacco kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä vassavalÄhakÄnaį¹ devÄnaį¹ sahabyataį¹ upapajjatÄ«āti. This is the cause, this is the reason why someone, when their body breaks up, after death, is reborn in the company of the gods of rainy thunderclouds.ā
