Katamā catasso? What four?
Pathavīdhātu, āpodhātu, tejodhātu, vāyodhātu—The elements of earth, water, fire, and air. The properties of matter that dominate in solids, liquids, plasma, and gases.
imā kho, bhikkhave, catasso dhātuyo”ti. These are the four elements.”
