āmicchÄpaį¹ipadaƱca vo, bhikkhave, desessÄmi sammÄpaį¹ipadaƱca. āMendicants, I will teach you the wrong practice and the right practice. āBhikkhus, I will teach you the wrong way and the right way. [the Exalted One said]:ā āI will teach you, Monks, both the wrong way and the tight way.
Taį¹ suį¹Ätha, sÄdhukaį¹ manasi karotha, bhÄsissÄmÄ«āti. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.ā Listen to that and attend closely, I will speak.āListen to it, give your minds thoroughly and I will speak.
āEvaį¹, bhanteāti kho te bhikkhÅ« bhagavato paccassosuį¹. āYes, sir,ā they replied. āYes, venerable sir,ā those bhikkhus replied.ā āEven so, Lord,ā responded those Monks.

āKatamÄ ca, bhikkhave, micchÄpaį¹ipadÄ? āAnd whatās the wrong practice? āAnd what, bhikkhus, is the wrong way?Which, Monks, is the wrong way?
AvijjÄpaccayÄ, bhikkhave, saį¹
khÄrÄ; Ignorance is a requirement for choices. With ignorance as condition, volitional formations [come to be];āConditioned by ignorance activities come to pass;

evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa samudayo hoti. That is how this entire mass of suffering originates. Such is the origin of this whole mass of suffering.even [the way of] the uprising of this entire mass of ill.
Ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, micchÄpaį¹ipadÄ. This is called the wrong practice. This, bhikkhus, is called the wrong way.This is called the wrong way.
KatamÄ ca, bhikkhave, sammÄpaį¹ipadÄ? And whatās the right practice? And what, bhikkhus, is the right way?And which is the right way?
AvijjÄya tveva asesavirÄganirodhÄ saį¹
khÄranirodho; When ignorance fades away and ceases with nothing left over, choices cease. With the remainderless fading away and cessation of ignorance comes cessation of volitional formations;āBut from the utter fading away and ceasing of ignorance [comes] the ceasing of activities ;

khÄranirodhÄ viƱƱÄį¹anirodho ā¦pe⦠When choices cease, consciousness ceases. ⦠with the cessation of volitional formations, cessation of consciousness. ā¦from the ceasing of activities [comes] ceasing of consciousnessā
evametassa kevalassa dukkhakkhandhassa nirodho hoti. That is how this entire mass of suffering ceases. Such is the cessation of this whole mass of suffering.even [the way of] the ceasing of this entire mass of ill.
