Saṁyojanasutta Fettered Fetter Fetter
“Kiṁsu saṁyojano loko, “With what is the world fettered? “What fetters the world? “By what is the world tightly fettered?
kiṁsu tassa vicāraṇaṁ; What is its exploration? How does it travel about? The commentary here explains vicāraṇa as “feet”.What is its means of travelling about?
Kissassu vippahānena, With the abandoning of what With the giving up of what What is it that one must forsake
nibbānaṁ iti vuccatī”ti. is there said, ‘unbinding’?” is extinguishment spoken of?” In order to say, ‘Nibbāna’?”
“Nandīsaṁyojano loko, “Fettered with delight is the world. “Delight fetters the world. “The world is tightly fettered by delight;
vitakkassa vicāraṇaṁ; Directed thought is its exploration. It travels about by means of thought. Thought is its means of travelling about.
