“Ahaṁ kho veḷugumbasmiṁ, I’ll eat honey and milk-rice
bhutvāna madhupāyasaṁ; in Veḷugumba.
Padakkhiṇaṁ sammasanto, And then, dexterously probing According to the commentary, padakkhiṇaṁ is to be taken adverbially. The sense metaphorically reinforces the rare verb sammasanto: dakkh is “right handed, dextrous”, mas is “stroke, probe”.
khandhānaṁ udayabbayaṁ; the rise and fall of the aggregates,
Sānuṁ paṭigamissāmi, I’ll return to my forest hill
vivekamanubrūhayan”ti. and foster seclusion.
