BahukÄrasutta Very Helpful
āTayome, bhikkhave, puggalÄ puggalassa bahukÄrÄ. āMendicants, these three individuals are very helpful to another.
Katame tayo? What three?
Yaį¹, bhikkhave, puggalaį¹ Ägamma puggalo buddhaį¹ saraį¹aį¹ gato hoti, dhammaį¹ saraį¹aį¹ gato hoti, saį¹
ghaį¹ saraį¹aį¹ gato hoti; The individual who has enabled you to go for refuge to the Buddha, the teaching, and the Saį¹
gha.
ayaį¹, bhikkhave, puggalo imassa puggalassa bahukÄro. This individual is very helpful to another.
Puna caparaį¹, bhikkhave, yaį¹ puggalaį¹ Ägamma puggalo āidaį¹ dukkhanāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti, āayaį¹ dukkhasamudayoāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti, āayaį¹ dukkhanirodhoāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti, āayaį¹ dukkhanirodhagÄminÄ« paį¹ipadÄāti yathÄbhÅ«taį¹ pajÄnÄti; Furthermore, the individual who has enabled you to truly understand: āThis is sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the origin of sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the cessation of sufferingā ā¦ āThis is the practice that leads to the cessation of sufferingā.
ayaį¹, bhikkhave, puggalo imassa puggalassa bahukÄro. This individual is very helpful to another.
Puna caparaį¹, bhikkhave, yaį¹ puggalaį¹ Ägamma puggalo ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄ anÄsavaį¹ cetovimuttiį¹ paƱƱÄvimuttiį¹ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharati; Furthermore, the individual who has enabled you to realize the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life, and live having realized it with your own insight due to the ending of defilements.
ayaį¹, bhikkhave, puggalo imassa puggalassa bahukÄro. This individual is very helpful to another.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo puggalÄ puggalassa bahukÄrÄ. These are the three individuals who are very helpful to another individual.
Imehi ca pana, bhikkhave, tÄ«hi puggalehi imassa puggalassa natthaƱƱo puggalo bahukÄroti vadÄmi. And I say that there is no-one more helpful to another than these three individuals.
Imesaį¹ pana, bhikkhave, tiį¹į¹aį¹ puggalÄnaį¹ iminÄ puggalena na suppatikÄraį¹ vadÄmi, yadidaį¹ abhivÄdanapaccuį¹į¹hÄnaaƱjalikammasÄmÄ«cikammacÄ«varapiį¹įøapÄtasenÄsanagilÄnapaccayabhesajjaparikkhÄrÄnuppadÄnenÄāti. And I also say that itās not easy to repay these three individuals by bowing down to them, rising up for them, greeting them with joined palms, and observing proper etiquette for them; or by providing them with robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick.ā
